Enduro 2012 prize giving

The annual prize giving ceremony of the Namibian Enduro Club took place on Saturday 24 November.

With the eight races in the Bank Windhoek Enduro Series completed a few weeks ago, it was time to give recognition to participants, sponsors and officials for all the hard work during the 2012 season.

Current chairman of the club, Andreas Brendel, thanked all the participants and supporters who have invested a lot to grow the sport.

In the category for the rookie rider of the year, the people with the highest points in their first year of racing were awarded. Pascal Henle and Enrico Malan walked away with the first place in the bike and quad categories respectively.

In the category for most improved rider, as nominated by their peers, it was Tom Moths and Julia Moths who emerged as the winners in the bike and quad classes respectively.

In the category best rider, based on the most points accumulated through the season across all classes, the veteran racers, Andreas Brendel and Fanie Steenkamp took the trophies in the bike and quad classes respectively.

In the Class 1 battle for bikes, it was Kai Hennes who was victorious over Claude Brendel and Jörn Greiter for the 2012 season.

In the Open Class, it was Ingo Waldschmidt who secured victory, with Tommy Gouws and Therold Murch coming second and third respectively.

In the National Quad Class, Windzor Hűsselman secured victory ahead of Heiko Bernstein and Johan Steyn in second and third places respectively.

In the Ladies Quad Class, it was Maike Bochert who secured victory ahead of Shannon Rowland and Julia Moths in second and third places respectively.

In the National Senior Bike Class, it was Andreas Brendel who secured victory ahead of Kai Hohmeier and Eckhard Waldschmidt in second and third place respectively.

In the Senior Quads, it was Fanie Steenkamp who secured victory ahead of Clinton Hilfiker and Yana de Jesus in second and third place respectively.

In the Support Bikes, it was Pascal Henle who secured victory ahead of Glen Brown and Wayne Schlabinski in second and third place respectively.

In the Support Quad Class, it was Enrico Malan who secured victory ahead of Andre van Zyl and Jorgen Schonken in second and third place respectively.

In the Junior Quad Class, it was Lotario van Wyk who secured victory ahead of Lozano Maletsky and RJ Visser in second and third place respectively.

In the Farmer or Beginners Class, it was Eugene Koen who secured victory ahead of Marcel Henle and Nicolai Palmert in second and third place respectively.

The Namibian Enduro Club would like to thank Bank Windhoek, all the participants, support crew and the public for the 2012 championship.

BANK WINDHOEK AND ENDURO STRENGTHEN THEIR WINNING PARTNERSHIP.

Bank Windhoek has renewed its commitment to off road motorcycle and quad-bike racing for the 2012 season. The Bank Windhoek NMSF (Namibia Motor Sport Fedartion) Namibian National Enduro Series will for the third consecutive year be sponsored by the Bank as series sponsor under the auspices of the Namibian Enduro Club.

“Bank Windhoek is pleased to be part again of the Enduro sport in 2012. There are many riders in Namibia who have the potential to represent the country across the borders. We trust that this sponsorship will lure international riders to Namibia so that our local riders can enjoy the much needed exposure. Furthermore, we thank the organizers, the riders and everybody involved in the Enduro sport for ensuring exciting events, where safety is of utmost importance. The public is invited to support these events”, said Nora Ndopu, Communication Practitioner: Stakeholder Engagement at Bank Windhoek.

Eight events are planned for the 2012 championship to be held in various parts of the country. These will be as follows:
1. 11 February - Tony Rust race track (Windhoek district)
2. 17 March – Farm Lichtenstein (Windhoek district)
3. 14 April – Farm Omakwara (Witvlei district)
4. 9 June - Aranos
5. 14 July - Farm Albrechtshöhe (Karibib district)
6. 11 August - Uis Tony Rust
7. 8 September - Tony Rust race track (Windhoek district)Uis
8. 20 October - Okahandja

“We thank Bank Windhoek for the continued support of the Enduro sport in Namibia. It makes the organising of events a lot easier with professional partners that are enthusiastic about the sport”, said Andreas Brendel, Chairman of the Namibian Enduro Club.
