Gouws wins Omakwara Race

Saturday 14 April 2012 saw round three of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Series.
The Omakwara event held on the Hennes farm in the Witvlei district had a new record for entries in the sport of Enduro in Namibia with 105 entries including the fun class.
The event was co sponsored by Xtreme Quads, MGR Trade, CRP and Caterhire.
Various other sponsors came on board to help with lucky draw prizes for the party afterwards as well as organizing, these included;
Farm Omakwara, Cymot, Manrico Select, Xtreme quads, Yamaha, NAM IT, Starling Trading, Power Traveler, KTM, Penny Pinchers, Timbercity, Nestlé and Elite Toilets.
A big thank you needs to go to these supporters of the sport.

With a fun race included in this event this category saw 20 competitors gaining exposure to the sport.
In its pursuit to grow the sport the Namibian Enduro Club thought that this would be an ideal venue for first timers to gain experience in the sport and the track did not disappoint.
The weather added to the action with raining coming down towards the end of the first lap making for some interesting racing and dirty sliding bikers.

In the open national class Tommy Gouws provided an upset beating the seasoned enduro riders and taking his first win in this form of motorsport.

Riaan van Rooyen of Bank Windhoek said that they were very happy to see such growth in the sport, this he says shows that the investment into the sport is paying off and that is after all the reason they get involved.

In the 200cc Class it was Kai Hennes (KTM) who secured victory ahead of Wanjo Kollmitz (Honda) and Sven Schneidenberger (KTM) in second and third respectively.

In the open class it was Tommy Gouws (Yamaha) who secured victory ahead of Henner Rusch (KTM) and Ingo Waldschmidt (KTM) in second and third respectively.

In the National Quad Class it was Class Windzor Huselman (Honda) who secured victory ahead of Heiko Bernstein (Honda) and Lorenzo Maletsky (Honda) in second and third respectively.

In the Ladies Quad Class it was Maike Bochert (Honda) who secured the victory ahead of Shannon Rowland (Honda) in second and Julia Moths in third.

In the National Senior Bike Class it was Eckhard Waldschmidt (KTM) who secured victory ahead of Andreas Brendel (KTM) and Luke Pennyfather (KTM) in second and third respectively.

In the National Senior Quad Class it was Fanie Steenkamp (Honda) who secured victory over Clinton Hilfiker (Yamaha) and Yana de Jesus (Honda) in second and third respectively.

In the Support Bikes it was Samuel Barnard (Yamaha) who secured victory ahead of Phlipie Baard (Honda) and Timothy Sigi Pack (Honda) in second and third respectively.

In the Support Quad Class it was Andre van Zyl (Honda) who secured victory ahead of Enrico Malan (Yamaha) and Mark Johnson (Yamaha) in second and third respectively.

In the Junior Quads it was Lotario van Wyk (Yamaha) who secured victory over Lozano Maletzky (Yamaha) and Jolly Fourie (Yamaha) in second and third respectively.

In the farmers or class 10 batle it was Eugene Koen (Yamaha) who secured victory over Janco Visser (Yamaha) and Julia Menthrup (Honda) in second and third respectively.

In the class for fun bikes it was Barend Visser(KTM) who secured victory ahead of David Winter (Suzuki) and Martinus Schoeman (Kawasaki) in second and third respectively.

The fun quad class was won by Rijno Blanestjin (Suzuki) ahead of Johan Liebenberg (Bombardier)and Adolf Prins (Yamaha) in second and third respectively. The next race in the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series will take place on 9 June in Aranos.
